To get familiar with the concept of “transportation”, it is better to know more about this word first. According to what is stated in Persian dictionaries; Trabari is formed from the Persian prefix “tera” which means beyond and beyond, and “bari” which is rooted in the verb to carry. The prefix “Tera” is an old prefix in the ancient Persian language and has the same root as the English word “Trans”. From a lexical point of view, the combination of transportation means to take to the other side or the same as “transportation”. Any transportation and transfer of goods or people or any other thing from the origin to the destination is called transportation.
After the beginning of their social life, the first humans either became nomads and moved to summer cottages and villages, or settled in one place and engaged in animal husbandry and agriculture. In all these lifestyles, the transportation of their necessities and products or their migrations to other places made the role of transportation more prominent in human life. The taming of animals for their use in transportation and the invention of the wheel were considered milestones in the quantitative and qualitative development of transportation. The increase in the human ability to use tools and build roads and caravanserais, road transportation quickly expanded throughout the great ancient empires. Also, throughout history, humans were able to build large ships capable of traveling longer distances than their living environment, and thus sea transportation was established.
With the invention of the steam engine, the occurrence of the industrial revolution in Europe and the invention of balloons and airplanes, various types of transportation such as road transportation, rail transportation, air transportation, sea transportation, intra-city transportation and international transportation (transit) have expanded rapidly. And as “transportation industry” it established its position in the development process of human life.
With the expansion of the transportation industry, transportation directly or indirectly found a decisive role in the important economic fields of societies.

Iran’s Transportation Economy Monthly (Tarabran)
